Mark your calendars for the Chips Joint Undertaking launch event scheduled for November 30th and December 1st, 2023, in Brussels!

Chips JU launch event is approaching!

In a strategic effort to strengthening Europe's position in the domain of semiconductors, the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (“KDT JU”) is set to inaugurate the innovative Chips Joint Undertaking (“Chips JU”). Mark your calendars for this thrilling two-day event scheduled for November 30th and December 1st, 2023! The event will take place at the Event Lounge in Brussels, Belgium.

The key objective of this gathering is to enhance Europe's global leadership in cutting-edge semiconductors and chip technology. Indeed, the establishment of the Chips JU comes as a direct response to the increasing demand for state-of-the-art microelectronics technology, recognising its pivotal role across several industries within the EU and around the globe.

What is the KDT JU?

The Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (KDT JU) is a significant public-private partnership dedicated to financing initiatives that support top-tier expertise in crucial enabling technologies. These technologies are essential to enhance Europe's capacity to thrive in an intensely technological marketplace. The very core of the KDT JU is remarkably straightforward: electronic components and systems serve as the cornerstone of vital economic sectors and that is why we need resolute efforts to excel in these domains. This commitment aligns seamlessly with European policy objectives, focusing on digital and technological leadership.

Through the KDT JU, various projects and initiatives coming from European industries, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), as well as Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs), receive support and co-financing from KDT Member entities. Indeed, the KDT JU encompasses several members, representing a wide range of interests and priorities:

  • three associations (EPoSS, AENEAS and Inside Industry Association) representing the actors from the areas of micro- and nano-electronics, smart integrated systems and embedded/cyber-physical systems;
  • the EU (through the Commission);
  • Member States and Associated Countries to Horizon Europe on a voluntary basis.

If you are curious about the kind of initiatives that could not exist without the KDT JU’s contribution, be sure to go through the list of impactful projects the Partnership funded over the years!

Chips JU launch event: what to expect

In light of the European Chips Act and the Chips for Europe Initiative, the launch event is convening key industry players, research institutes, and policymakers. Its primary purpose is to stimulate cooperation opportunities and promote innovation throughout the entire microelectronics value chain, also serving as a nexus for public-private partnerships.

The event is meant to pave the way for collaboration and knowledge transfer to tackle challenges and seize opportunities in the field of semiconductors. Over the course of two days, participants will network and delve deep into the initiative's objectives and strategic roadmap, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its mission and program. You can find more details about event agenda and registration in the KDT JU website.

We look forward to participating in such a stimulating event! It will be an invaluable opportunity to showcase SiC Nano for PicoGeo’s contribution to the domain of semiconductors technologies and to meet other stakeholders committed to the advancement of our field!

Join us in Brussels and witness the commencement of a transformative era in the semiconductors and microelectronics realm!
